Il mwcwciclopentanoperidrofenantrene, detto anche mwdasterano o mwdqgonano è un mwdgidrocarburo tetraciclico composto da un mwdwperidrofenantrene con uno degli anelli condensato ad un mweaciclopentano. È la struttura base degli mweqsteroli e degli mwegsteroidi come ad esempio, rispettivamente, il mwewcolesterolo o il mwfacortisolo, garantendone rigidità. La biosintesi dello sterano e dei suo derivati ha origine dal metabolismo dei mwfqterpeni (polimeri composti dalla fusione di più unità di mwfgisoprene), in particolare dalla fusione di due unità di mwfwfarnesil pirofosfato seguita dal riarrangiamento dello mwgasqualene.
